FAQ

  • I have some swimming experience do I need to start with Beginning?

If you are a lap swimmer looking to improve your form, time, or endurance this is not the right course. If you do not know how to be 100% calm in the water all the time then we call you a beginner. This course address water safety (being calm 100% of the time) and the foundational skills and information needed to understand your body and the water together.

  • When can I start?

This course will be starting Jan 7, 2019

  • I can swim, but don't know how to breath can I skip this level?

If you cannot reliably get air then there are some foundational steps missing. To be safe in the water you must know how to get air in the easiest ways possible so you do not add any unnecessary tension. Unnecessary tension leaves people at risk of panic. Panicking is the leading cause of drowning. This course will teach you in each step how to prevent panic.

  • Do I need to have a pool to take this course?

This course is set up so you can take the lessons to the pool in each section. You may need to spend some time with each section before being ready for the next. We give you guidance to find a good pool for learning. We also break the steps up into very small parts since you will be going to the pool on your own and that is a BIG learning step of it own! Taking the course before you know where you will swim may also be helpful in preparing to take on this new challenge.

  • What if I need help during the course

You can ask questions within the course itself or you can join our private Facebook group and ask questions there. Both are monitored by expert teachers that work hands-on with adult students every day.

  • Does this course cover treading water?

No. Treading water is not a safety skill. We focus on first bring adults to safety in the water. Once you are completely safe in deep water then you will be ready to learn treading. Treading water is a skill that comes out of an accumulation of many different skills and understanding of how the water works. Most people think it goes the other way. If I can tread then I will be safe. If you have ever tried to learn to tread and found it difficult you have experience in the false nature of that statement.

  • How will the lessons be delivered?

This course is set up as a "Drip". This means you will get each lesson on a weekly schedule. Some lessons may take you longer than others to complete. However you can move on to the next lesson even if you have more learning to do in the previous lesson. It is normal for people to need a lot of time with each step. The learning is helped when you mix up what you are practicing. For example spend some time on your front, then your back, then playing a game, take a break and go back to working on your back.
